Why not share a Google Doc?

We love collaborative editing tools like Google Docs. In this case, what do you want your referee to do when they receive it?

ReferenceKarma makes it way easier for them: login with a Google or LinkedIn account and click "Sign".

Will they edit it?

On ReferenceKarma you can provide starter text that your referee can edit or write in their own words.

Once they finalize your reference letter though, it can't be changed. This adds legitimacy and trustworthiness that a freely-editable document lacks.

Will they just read it and tell you they approve?

A letter of recommendation is much more impactful if the hiring party can verify it.

ReferenceKarma securely records the referee's email, IP address and date of signature, just like online document signing services.

A finalized letter of recommendation on ReferenceKarma is verifiable proof of your career capital.

What about privacy?

On ReferenceKarma, every reference letter is private by default. They can only be viewed by authenticated users: you, the referee and those you invite personally.

Authentication is handled by Auth0, a global leader in security and identification.

Personal information will never be sold. It will only be shared with your express consent (like when inviting a hiring party).

Is it secure?

ReferenceKarma is hosted by Cloudflare, a giant in web security and infrastructure. Cloudflare's storage system is encrypted at rest with modern, gold-standard cryptographic algorithms.

How much does it cost?

ReferenceKarma is in public beta, during which time, it's free to use. ReferenceKarma will always be free for the first 5 reference letter requests. Many people will never need more. Additional references will be made available for a nominal fee.
